RIAA settles then renegs

OH boy do I love stories like this… The RIAA (read Ripoff Industry of Arrogant Asses) agreed to a settlement with a client they were in the process of suing. They agreed to a fine for the apparent misdemeanors, however when the final papers were handed in the RIAA(insert above text here) had DOUBLED THE FINE for no particular reason apart from their opinion that it ‘wasn’t ENOUGH’

Now of course the Judge who has a previous record of Kicking the ass of the RIAA when they assume the law owes them just happened to be the judge presiding over this trial…. BIG OOPS. The Judge all but threw them in Jail for their stupid stunt.

Thank goodness the law is getting just as sick of the petty tactics of the RIAA, while the public is sick of fine harvesting and the musicians are disillusioned with RIAA support.

Napster Judge solves all the worlds Musical problems

This just in from Techdirt.

The judge who presided over the case that saw Napster (that oh so old P2P sharing program that started major headaches for all the big businesses in the Entertainment industry) finally closed down has now offered his own advice on what is wrong with the Music industry and what the Rest of the Entertainment world should be doing to find success.

sorry mate, not sure if I trust your judgement.

Hollywood not following up Writer’s contract settlements

Its been almost a year since the writers strike got sorted out in Hollywood.

Wait, did we say sorted? um… maybe we should take that back

It seems that all the handshaking and back patting that went on when the writers and Hollywood execs settled have not really resolved much.

Today Techdirt reports on an article accusing Hollywood of not holding up its end of the bargain.
