Its reasonably old now but is still worth restating. That moment where Amazon tells you that they only deduct a 30% fee for managing your apps? Its BS. Unless you already operate in the USA and are submitting tax returns to the IRS prepare to have a further 20% deducted straight off of your revenue.

This is especially rubbish at a time when Google, Synapse, Getjar and a stack of other companies all manage to use the correct forms to avoid charging American Tax to non-Americans!

There is online outrage circulating facebook and the internet at the moment at this story. This story confirms so many of our fears about the music industry or any situation where big business meets the little guy… what happens? The little guy gets squished. Many people have discussed the necessity of knowing the industry that you are in, this of course has been expressed in less understanding words. I agree with this on some level, but the responsibility that comes with knowledge about how an industry works should be used to foster talent, not churn up and spit out people like a hamburger factory. In this situation, people don’t get the straight story from big business, and this… no matter what his knowledge, is unfair.

BradSucks, a popular musician from amongst other sites has had a fan offer to pay BradSucks for the first 50 people to download his album for free. Wouldn’t I love fans like this. It seems that this might be a cool way to add some value and exposure to other sites. Maybe a website owner can use the music download as an opportunity for exposure, sort of like advertising links. The band page can list the link as the ‘official’ download site for the page and provide the webmaster with some more traffic.
